Inclusivity Policy
Inclusivity is all about giving each and every individual the same opportunities and making all individuals from diverse backgrounds and preferences, feel welcome in the community where they dwell. In other words, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, languages, disabilities, culture or background should never be a barrier to a student in the campus. In essence, everyone should feel safe, accommodated, supported and encouraged. With this objective, Sree Sankara College, Kalady has drafted an Inclusivity Policy, under which various clubs and committees are constituted including:
1. Gender Sensitivity Cell
2. Women’s Cell – Sakhi
3. Differently abled Students’ Cell- Mitra-The Friend
4. SC/ST/OBC/Minority Cell
The various aspects under this policy include:
- Empowering girl students with life-skills, employment skills, leadership-skills and self-confidence
- Ensuring equal opportunities to gender minorities
- Maintaining gender balance in various decision-making bodies
- Organizing seminar/ workshops and special lectures to inculcate gender awareness and consciousness, motivational and awareness sessions to differently abled and socially and economically challenged students
- To help differently abled students in obtaining exam related assistance, such as applying for Scribes and additional exam time.
- Conducting orientation and awareness programmes in association with local government bodies for minority students on the various schemes/projects available for their development/empowerment/financial assistance.
