Department Profile

The Department of History and Political Science was started in 1966 as a UG department with History as Core Course  and Economics and Political Science as Complementary Courses.The department aims to provide students with thorough grounding on the various perspectives and arenas of historical knowledge. Apart from the classroom learning, the department usually conducts a wide variety of programmes where students were encouraged to play an active role. The department also offers a Certificate Course in ‘Museology in India’ to provide basic foundational knowledge about Museums and other preservation. The duration of the course is 35 hours including field visit and internship. A Heritage Club is functioning under the auspices of the department to foster competent skills,critical outlook and historical consciousness  among the students .
