Anti-Drug and Narcotic Policy

The Anti-Drug and Narcotic cell was established in Sree Sankara College during the year 2022-23 with a view to curb the menace of drug trafficking and use of illegal substances inside the campus. Sree Sankara College strongly believes that the best way to maintain an appropriate campus environment with respect to drugs and alcohol is through educating  students  about the dangers of drug abuse that tend to  threaten the safety of the environment, and disrupt the educational process and defeats the purpose for which a student is being educated. To that end, the college provides on-campus support programmes and awareness programmes.

Anti-Drug and Narcotic Cell

In order to do keep the anti-drug policy of the college, an anti-drug and narcotic cell is established in 2022.

Objective

  • To ensure a drug- free campus by taking necessary measures to prevent, curb and eradicate substance abuse in the campus.
  • To motivate the students to actively participate in awareness programmes conducted by the cell in association with excise department.
  • To provide counselling for students who display tendencies towards drugs / alcohol use.

Duties

The duties of the anti-narcotics cell include,

  • Organizing awareness programmes in the college.
  • Educating the students about the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol, encouraging students to report of any noticed use of drugs by the students to the members of the anti-drug and narcotic cell.
  • Organize role plays, skits, display posters, talks, Anti-drug oaths, rallies, etc., to educate and sensitise the students on the use and ill-effects of drug and ‘substance’ use.
  • To monitor the entire campus to ensure that students do not succumb to the evils of alcohol and drug abuse.

Disciplinary Procedures:

The use, possession, sale, and distribution of drugs in the campus will not be tolerated.    Depending upon the nature of the circumstances, the college may choose to implement counselling, disciplinary action, medical assistance  or a combination of interventions. Disciplinary sanctions can include dismissal from the college, suspension from classes and other activities or privileges, or other penalties as decided by the institution.
