Department Profile

Chemistry department was established in the year 1959. The department is enriched with 8 permanent faculty members, one guest faculty, 3 laboratory assistants, 116 UG students and 24 PG students and 6 Ph.D students. Out of 8 faculty members 6 of them hold Ph. D. degree, 3 of them hold M. Phil. Degree and one member hold M.Ed. degree from well reputed institutions.  Two of the faculty members have got post doctoral experience.

 The Chemistry department is well equipped with a DST-FIST supported Research lab and well equipped UG and PG laboratories.  The department has got basic plastic and rubber processing machineries, equipment’s for basic chemical analysis etc. which can help the students to undertake their project woks and research activities in the college itself.  The facilities for ICT enabled teaching and full time internet facility access can enrich the teacher – student learning process.  Academic counselling through tutorial programme. Financial aid to the needy, value Based education and student support programmes are included in curriculum. The department organizes many national and international academic events throughout the year which open up new possibilities to students to get aware of the present scenario in advanced chemical field and to get awareness to opportunities for their higher studies.
