‘Cultivating Knowledge and Harvesting Sustainability’: A Vegetable Garden Initiative by Students

In a steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability, the department of biochemistry has taken a pioneering step towards integrating eco-friendly practices within the campus. Initiated by students, the establishment of a vegetable garden has become a focal point of the department's green initiative, showcasing a harmonious blend of academic learning, practical application, and community engagement. The initiative commenced with planning and design, where the students collaborated to outline the garden's layout, choose suitable vegetable varieties, and establish a timeline for implementation. Resources were procured, and a dedicated space on campus was allocated for the garden. Students actively involved in soil preparation, planting, watering, and maintenance. The garden was cultivated using organic methods, minimizing the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Additionally, composting and waste management strategies were adopted to ensure a minimal environmental footprint.
