The Department of Biotechnology is taking proactive steps to help students prepare for competitive exams and secure admission into prestigious institutions in India. The primary aim of this initiative is to assist students in preparing for top national-level competitive exams, including GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), GAT-B (Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology), and JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters). These exams are essential for admission to postgraduate programmes and future research opportunities. The initiative is focused on helping students gain admission to prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and RGCB (Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology) in Trivandrum. Support for Competitive Exam Preparation: ❖ Students are provided with the previous year's question papers to familiarize themselves with the exam format. ❖ The department faculties offer personal theory sessions exclusively for competitive exam preparation, ensuring that students thoroughly understand the syllabus concepts. ❖ External subject experts are engaged to assist with exam preparation through online mode, providing additional expertise. ❖ Students are encouraged to solve the previous year's question papers, prepare notes, and are provided with study materials. This initiative demonstrates a comprehensive approach to helping students prepare for competitive exams and achieve admission into top institutions. The combination of faculty support, expert guidance, and access to study materials and past papers should greatly enhance students' chances of success. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Is an entrance examination conducted in India that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of undergraduate subjects in engineering and sciences for admission into postgraduate programmes. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) Is a common admission test conducted every year for admission into Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), organized by alternating institutes every year. The Graduate Aptitude Test - Biotechnology (GAT-B) Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B), is an all-India Entrance Examination to test the eligibility of bonafide Indian nationals for admissions to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas, at participating institutions/universities.
