Prof. K. P. Babudas Memorial Award Presentation and Vākyārtha Sadas Held at Sree Sankara College, Kalady
The Department of Sanskrit, Sree Sankara College, Kalady, organised the Prof. K. P. Babudas Memorial Award Presentation and Vākyārtha Sadas on 15 July 2026 at the Mini Seminar Hall, Sri Sri Vidhusekhara Bharati Block, commemorating the enduring scholarly legacy of two revered former faculty members of the Department, Prof. K. P. Babudas and (Late) Prof. M. Radhakrishnan.
The programme began with memorial tributes highlighting the invaluable contributions of Prof. K. P. Babudas, an eminent Vedānta scholar, teacher, and author, and (Late) Prof. M. Radhakrishnan, whose dedicated service greatly enriched Sanskrit education and the academic life of the Department. Distinguished academicians, colleagues, and alumni recalled their exemplary scholarship, humility, and lasting influence on generations of students.
As part of the programme, the Prof. K. P. Babudas Memorial Vedānta Vidvat Puraskāra was presented to Dr. P. V. Vasudevan, Assistant Professor, Department of Vedānta, Calicut Adarsha Sanskrit Vidyapeetham, Balussery, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Vedānta studies.
The highlight of the event was the Vākyārtha Sadas, a traditional scholastic discourse on Vedānta, presided over by Dr. V. Ramakrishna Bhat, former Professor of Vedānta, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. The scholarly deliberations reflected the richness of the traditional Indian method of philosophical dialogue and interpretation.
The Vākyārtha Sadas witnessed the participation of eminent Sanskrit scholars, including Dr. V. Ramakrishna Bhat, Dr. K. V. Vasudevan, Dr. E. N. Narayanan, Dr. P. V. Vasudevan, Smt. Jyotsna Padmanabhan, Sri Sankaranarayanan, and Kum. Sarada G. Iyer. Their insightful discussions on various aspects of Vedānta contributed to a vibrant academic exchange and reaffirmed the continuing relevance of the traditional Vākyārtha tradition.
Faculty members, students, research scholars, alumni, and Sanskrit enthusiasts attended the programme in large numbers, making the event a fitting tribute to the memory and scholarly legacy of Prof. K. P. Babudas and (Late) Prof. M. Radhakrishnan.
