In observance of World Environment Day on June 5, the Biodiversity Club, Bhoomithra Sena Club, National Cadet Corps (NCC), and National Service Scheme (NSS) of Sree Sankara College, Kalady, jointly organized a seminar on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with a prayer. Dr. Shintu P.V., Coordinator of the Biodiversity Club, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of observing World Environment Day. She introduced the 2025 theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” emphasizing the urgent need for collective action. Prof. (Dr.) Anilkumar M., Principal of Sree Sankara College, delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he stressed the importance of the three R’s- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle-as foundational principles for managing plastic waste and conserving resources. He elaborated on how these principles play a crucial role in minimizing environmental degradation and promoting sustainable living. Dr. Sinitha B. Nair, Convenor of the Bhoomithra Sena Club; Smt. Amritha P.N., Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences; and Sri. Anoop V.P., NSS Programme Officer, felicitated the event.
