As part of its annual extension activities, the Department of Biotechnology, Sree Sankara College, Kalady, organized Karuthalonam 2025 on 22 August 2025. The programme was conducted as a visit to Snehasadan School for Intellectually Challenged Students, celebrating the festival of Onam in a spirit of compassion, inclusion, and togetherness.
Second-year Biotechnology students, accompanied by faculty members Smt. Sujayalakshmi K. V. (Head of the Department), Dr. Renjusha Menon, and Ms. Ameesha Wilson, participated in the programme. The initiative, which is conducted every year, aims to instill social responsibility among students while spreading joy and festive cheer among the children.
The students organized a variety of engaging activities, including games and cultural programmes, providing an opportunity for the children of Snehasadan to actively participate and showcase their talents. The interactions created a joyful and inclusive atmosphere, strengthening emotional connections and mutual understanding.
As part of the visit, the department contributed food items and extended a donation to the institution as a token of love and support. The programme not only celebrated the essence of Onam but also encouraged students to develop empathy, compassion, and a sense of community service.
Overall, Karuthalonam 2025 was a meaningful and enriching experience that reflected the true spirit of the festival—sharing, caring, and togetherness—while nurturing socially responsible individuals.
