The session was organized with the objective of familiarizing the newly admitted first-year students with the concept, structure, and significance of the Journal Club, which serves as an integral component of their academic and research training.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and orientation by Ms. Athulya, a third-year B.Sc. Biotechnology student. She provided a comprehensive introduction to the Journal Club, explaining its objectives, format, and relevance in enhancing scientific understanding and critical thinking skills. The session emphasized the importance of reading, analyzing, and presenting research articles as a means to stay updated with recent advancements in biotechnology.
The interactive orientation helped students gain clarity on how journal club sessions are conducted, including article selection, presentation methods, and group discussions. It also encouraged active participation and collaborative learning among students.
Overall, the session served as an effective platform to initiate first-year students into the culture of scientific discussion and research-oriented learning, thereby laying a strong foundation for their academic growth.
