The Department of Biotechnology organized “Dheekshaaramb,” an orientation programme titled “Beyond the Bench – The World of Biotechnology,” on 6 August 2026. The programme aimed to introduce students to the diverse dimensions of biotechnology and familiarize them with its expanding scope, emerging applications, and career opportunities.

The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the institution, Prof. Dr. Anilkumar M., who also delivered the presidential address. Dr. Gopika G., IQAC Coordinator, felicitated the gathering. The resource person for the programme was Dr. Bhavadas N., an alumnus of the Department of Biotechnology from its first batch (2005–2008).

Dr. Bhavadas delivered an informative and inspiring session highlighting the wide-ranging applications of biotechnology in healthcare, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food technology, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the significance of innovation, practical skills, and research in addressing real-world challenges and contributing to scientific and technological advancements. Drawing from his personal experiences and professional journey, he encouraged students to look beyond conventional career pathways and explore the diverse opportunities available in the field.

The programme provided students with valuable insights into the multidisciplinary nature of biotechnology and its growing relevance across various sectors. It also encouraged them to develop scientific curiosity, strengthen their practical competencies, and explore future possibilities in research, industry, and entrepreneurship.
