The Department of Biotechnology, Sree Sankara College, Kalady, successfully inaugurated BIONEXUS, the Biotechnology Association for the academic year 2025–2026, on 7 October 2025. The inauguration was followed by an orientation programme titled “Biotechnology – Pathways and Prospects”, aimed at introducing students to the diverse academic and career opportunities available in the field of biotechnology.
The programme commenced with a prayer song by Ms. Ardhra T. S. and Ms. Dharithri G. Nath, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Anna Baiju, Secretary of the Biotechnology Association. The event was graced by Dr. Anu Yamuna Joseph, Principal Scientist and Managing Director of Primordia LifeSciences Pvt. Ltd., as the Guest of Honour.
A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration of the programme, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and innovation. The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Anilkumar M, Principal of Sree Sankara College, who officially inaugurated BIONEXUS and delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the growing importance of biotechnology and the need for students to cultivate scientific excellence, leadership, and innovation.
The programme also featured a felicitation by Ms. Gopika G., IQAC Coordinator, and an introduction to the guest by Ms. Munthaha K. K., a student of the Department of Biotechnology. The highlight of the event was an insightful session by Dr. Anu Yamuna Joseph on the emerging opportunities and future prospects in biotechnology. Through her inspiring talk, she provided students with valuable guidance on career pathways, skill development, research opportunities, and entrepreneurship in the biotechnology sector. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students actively engaged with the speaker and clarified their queries.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Abhishek S. A., while Ms. Athulya Somashekaran efficiently compered the event. The inauguration and orientation programme marked a promising beginning for the activities of BIONEXUS during the academic year and served as an inspiring platform for students to explore the vast possibilities within the field of biotechnology.
